Vote for Project of the Year 2020

It has been difficult for all of our grantees to implement their supported project ideas due to the unfortunate pandemic situation. It is important for us to award those who have been lucky, brave and ready to organize their project events and thus bring our communities closer together.
Vote on our Facebook fan page for four nominated projects that were organized last year and help one of them get the title Project of the Year 2020!

Project picture with the most likes 👍 or hearts ❤️ wins the prize and a financial award. The voting will be open until Monday, 23 August and the results will be published a week after

The nominated projects are:

Mood for Wood—Neighborhood International Design Workshop

Mood for Wood, series of international workshops aimed at students of design degrees, has already taken place seven times with more than 300 students from Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia. During the workshops, students, along with experienced carpenters and recognized architects from all over the world, produced pieces of urban furniture. These pieces contribute to the revitalization of public spaces in Cesky Tesin and Cieszyn and provide the local citizens with interesting examples of fine arts, design, and architecture. Moreover, the workshops were accompanied by additional events: debates, architecture walks, film screenings, and lectures.

Festival ERROR 2020

There have been many myths and stereotypes about homeless people and homelessness in our societies, which has further contributed to the stigmatization of this marginalized community. The International Festival of Homeless People ERROR tries to tackle the issue by drawing attention to the topics of social exclusion and the importance of cooperation at all levels. Throughout the festival, homeless actors and actresses were able to present their work to the large public and connect people of different backgrounds. In 2020, the festival took place online and was the only theatre-oriented project implemented in that year due to the pandemic.

V4 Jazz Fest 2020

Slovak, Czech, Polish, and Hungarian fans of jazz music have very little knowledge of each other’s jazz life, as the jazz life in the V4 countries is rather West-oriented. This encouraged the Jaazzart Public Benefit Foundation to establish the V4 Jazz Fest, which has offered a unique opportunity to connect Central European jazz musicians and fans of the Visegrad Region. During the V4 Jazz Fest in 2020, each of the bands performed in each V4 country, so the audience in Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Prague, Krakow, and Budapest was entertained in the format of rotation, one band – one night – one city.

Accelerating Children’s Museums in V4

So far uncommon in the region, yet globally one of the most efficient and innovative educational methods – children’s museums – were introduced in the V4 region by the UUUL Institute. Not only are these museums attractive, but they also introduce the cultural and natural heritage and science to children, by means approachable to them: they enable them to touch the objects, experiment, and play. The project united three private children museum start-ups and one start-up of children programs in the art gallery and enabled  sharing best practices and knowledge of experts, who have been running successful children museums in Western Europe.
