The Western Balkans–Visegrad Fellowship Program is back with its third edition!
A total of 85 scholarship recipients have participated in this program in previous years. If you are a doctoral student, a doctoral graduate, or a postdoctoral researcher and wish to broaden your academic horizons and gain international experience, you will appreciate this opportunity.
Applications are open from 13 April to 17 May 2026.
Enhance your research through short-term, fully funded stays and become part of a growing network of scholars through this joint initiative of the Western Balkans Fund and the Visegrad Fund.
Who can apply: Doctoral candidates (PhD students), PhD graduates, and postdoctoral researchers.
Mobility (both directions supported): Researchers from the Western Balkans: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo* and Serbia can carry out research in V4 countries: Hungary, Czechia, Poland as well as Slovakia. And vice versa — researchers from V4 countries can visit institutions in the Western Balkans.
Fellowship details: Duration: 2 to 10 weeks
Funding: €500 per week + travel costs covered
Implementation period: September 2026 – June 2027
