The Visegrad Scholarship Program, implemented in collaboration with the Open Society Archives (OSA) at Central European University in Budapest, offers researchers, scholars, artists, and journalists an opportunity to conduct research using the Archives’ unique collections.
Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to applicants from Visegrad countries and beyond. The €3,000 scholarship supports a two-month research stay in Budapest, covering access to the archives, travel to and from Budapest, accommodation, and modest living expenses. Shorter research stays are also eligible for proportionally adjusted support.
Researchers, academics, artists, and journalists interested in exploring these questions through the OSA collections are encouraged to apply.
Application deadline: 10 November 2026.
The research theme for 2026/2027 is “Naming Reality”. The call invites applicants to explore how reality was described and interpreted under conditions of censorship, restricted access to information, and political pressure between East and West. Marking the 35th anniversary of the Visegrad Group, the theme also reflects on Central Europe's efforts after 1989 to rebuild a shared political language based on open debate, pluralism, and reliable information.
