Republic of Korea Reaffirms Support for the International Visegrad Fund
Today, the Executive Director of the International Visegrad Fund, Linda Kapustová Helbichová, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Slovakia, Byeongdo Lee, signed a Memorandum of Understanding confirming the Republic of Korea’s continued financial contribution to the Fund.
The renewed support of USD 500,000 will strengthen Korea’s long-term commitment to cooperate with the Visegrad Group (V4) and promote trust-based relations throughout the region.
During the signing ceremony, Director Kapustová Helbichová expressed gratitude for Korea’s ongoing partnership: “The Republic of Korea is the second-largest donor to the Visegrad Fund among third countries, demonstrating its commitment to fostering better neighbourly relations. Such relationships can only be built on trust. The funds provided by the Republic of Korea will be used to support projects involving civil society stakeholders, research and educational institutions, as well as cities and regions.”
Ambassador Byeongdo Lee highlighted the growing depth of Korea and V4 cooperation and announced the country’s fifth contribution to the Fund:
“As the Korean Ambassador to Slovakia and the main point of contact between Korea and the Visegrad Fund, I am pleased to announce Korea’s fifth contribution to the Fund. I look forward to deepening our collaboration and promoting mutual understanding and sustainable development across our regions.”
The renewed funding will further strengthen collaborative initiatives across the Visegrad countries, with a focus on civil society engagement, research cooperation, education, and regional development.
