V4: BORDERS AND BRIDGES INTERNATIONAL LITERARY FESTIVAL – promoting book culture of the V4 region
During the 4 day festival we will operate an open community co –working space (a literary hub) in the place of the Lumen Kávézó café, that will be open to the public daily, in an appointed time scale where the festival goers and participants will get a chance to meet the authors and writers of V4 region face-to face while they’ll be at work. The writers will be sitting at their desks (with little national flags indicating the country they’re coming from), and working on the new piece of writing to be born directly on spot, including a written reflection of their experiences of the city (following the ‘Feel the City’ event). The themes and issues touched upon: How they see the Hungarian citizens? How they see the Hungarian culture? What impressions did the historical and cultural site-specific city tour make on them? The works will be partially translated and published on the project’s facebook page as well as read out and reflected upon at the open debate scheduled at the later festival program. As accompanying program to this event, there will be a constant exhibit of the V4 author’s books and their already existing translations in several languages of V4 and English, that will be available to wide public to take a look at and scan through. There will be public readings of the works of V4 authors organized all through the festival, at several venues, including Lumen Café, PIM literary museum, Gdansk bookstore & café, Városfal etc.
