Project
STELLA – Somatic TEch Live LAb to ensure that future productions meet the demands of future audience
Implementation of the third event in Kosice, Slovakia. During these four days project participants have the possibility to participate at Art&Tech Days and Conference organised by Creative Industry of Kosice – UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts, which is a unique international event of media arts, technology and digital culture. The Art & Tech Conference is an interdisciplinary conference designed for everyone interested in how artificial intelligence influences our thinking, everyday life, and what impacts it will have on society, creativity and business. It also presents top projects and ideas of media arts, technology and digital culture. It reveals how digitization and technology affect artistic creation and vice versa, how artists can inspire technological development and innovation.
During this phase of the project a special focus is given to Slovak partner Creative Industry of Kosice and Maria Judova and to the field of Virtual and Augmented Reality. Maria Judova, internationally recognized digital artist gives a workshop about Physicality in virtual spaces including VR 3D, volumetric capturing 3D vvvv, dance and choreography opened for a general public during the time of Art&Tech Days.
Workshop description:
What makes VR different to other media, is that it is as much a physical experience as it is visual. It allows to capture physicality and to reimagine our perception of body, space and time like no other media. Re-imagination of the physicality will be at the core of the workshop. During the workshop, we will go through our previous artworks to demonstrate how the concepts of body and perception relate to our practice, research and interest. We will use cinematic VR experience DUST as a basis to explain how we use virtual reality to alter user's body perception. After short conceptually/theoretically driven introduction, the series of hands-on experiments will follow. Participants will use the digital technologies in order to reimagine their physicality and to discover the creative possibilities of VR based techniques in the context of movement, dance and choreography. Using the VR headset, creative coding node based toolkit VVVV and a volumetric recordings using depth camera we will create experiences in which one is able to observe his or hers own body movements from a perspective of third person in real time or in recording. We will examine the impact of different time, location and scale perspective on a movement self-perception.
The workshop is held by Maria Judova

A guest performance Urgent Need to Breathe by Ziggurat Project will be also presented in the frame of the festival opened for a general audience.
During this meeting participants will exchange ideas about the art works and technologies seen at the festival, as well as about their experiences at the workshops. A special session within the group of the project partners is dedicated for brainstorming and designing more concretely the common future educational program in the field of performing arts and technology.
