Project
V4 Conference on Language and Discrimination
The conference on language and discrimination is a major event that represents a culmination in the research efforts of the department of social linguistics. The main ideas are 1. to present research results in the field, 2. to disseminate the knowledge in the international context, 3. to establish cooperation with related institutions within the V4 region, 4. to create a basis for formulation of anti-discrimination activities that represent the pragmatic dimension of the output, 5. to anchor the V4 region and individual countries within the anti-discrimination discourse in the European Union.
The project involves partners from all V4 member countries who will actively participate in the realization of the event and thus integrate their own regional researches into the overall output. This is realized in the form of plenary talks which will initiate broader discussion at the conference. The plenary speakers will be present during the whole duration of the conference, thus contributing to scientific networking. The aim is to involve as many institutions interested in the issues of language and discrimination as possible. The intention is to cross the boundaries of scientific discourse towards wider societal discourse. The conference will last two days during which the most important studies of the experts will be presented and a significant amount of space will be given to deeper and free discussion of the topics.
