Sexual Knowledge and Expertise in Europe’s East, Before and After 1945
International conference "Sexual Knowledge and Expertise in Europe’s East, before and after 1945" will take place at Masaryk University between 3-5 June 2019. The aim of this conference is to enhance our current understandings of the transnational histories of sexual science in its broadest sense, including multiple dimensions from psychoanalytic and medical debates about and approaches to gender and sexuality, to conversations about sex and sexuality in literature, theatre and art, to the impacts of scientific notions of sex on politics.
The event will foster transnational understanding of categories of gender and sexuality, which structure contemporary societies and cultures of V4 countries, including their inequalities.
During the conference, graduate students and junior research will have a chance to meet and network among each other and together with established researches (conference organisers from V4 countries and international guest speakers).
