Project
Public Control and Media Literacy in V4 and EaP Countries
This event will be focused on people who are beginning to be interested in civic society and public issues, but who are without much experience of practical work. The School of Civic Initiative will consist of participatory workshops, interactive lectures, and practical trainings aimed at supporting youth activism, the development of critical thinking, the use and verification of sources, and hoax recognition, in order to increase awareness of the connections between political propaganda, manipulation and political misdeeds. Unlike the BarCamps, the School of Civic Initiative is meant for newly active, mostly young people who are motivated to learn specific skills in order to be able to efficiently work in the public sphere. In contrast to the BarCamps, the School of Civic Initiative will be designed as a set of theoretical and practical programmes and exercises carefully designed to gradually transfer information and knowledge. Interactive learning and workshops will be included in the event.
After attending the School, participants will be eligible to receive continuous support for and consultations about their civic activities and campaigns that they will develop precisely at this event in order to make good use of the acquired knowledge.
