Study Tour

Day 3. Breakfast in hotel, meeting with Lenka Plavuchova and her team member, visit of Racek family centre, Stara Jedalen, lunch in Stará Tržnica, Nová Cvernovka. Transfer to Ostrava (if there is enough time - with a stop in Tišnov to visit spaces of our CZ partner, Dvorek, Studanka), dinner. Racek family centre (project partner was part of the team): works from 2003 within active parents NGO, has no employees, only volunteers. Get income from their activities. Stará jedáleň (project partner): NGO that revitalize old school canteen to a bigger family center. Stará Tržnica: association of different civil actors, who revitalized a historical building of old market into multi-functional place (fairs, concerts, market, forums etc.) via crowdfunding. Nová Cvernovka: started as squat in old fabric in city center, they had more than 40 different “inhabitants”, created ecosystem and produced creative products based on synergy. Then owner decided to sell the building and squatters made an initiative group, that agreed with municipality rent of another industrial object at outskirt of the city, where more than 20 “inhabitants” moved and now revitalizing it together with local community development. Studánka: NGO, family centre, coworking, community development Dvorek: local public space, used by alternative school, community garden. Day 4: Breakfast in hotel, meeting with Tereza Kulhankova and Ulla Poltsonen—introduction of their initiatives, visit to Dolní oblast Vítkovice. Lunch, dinner, night in Ostrava. Dolní oblast Vítkovice—huge revitalized industrial space (metallurgical plant, mine) that acts now as modern conference, art, science centre.
