V4 for Youth engagement in self-governance
17 August 2019 Capacity Building of Young Activists of Aragatsotn region on engagement in self-governance. “Free Citizen” Civic Initiatives Support Center is launching the implementation of the project “V4 for Youth engagement in self-governance”. On 17 August 2019, “Free Citizen” CISC will organise a workshop for the local youth in the framework of the Project in the city of Ashtarak and Aragatsotn region of Armenia. This is the first workshop of out 1, which are planned to organise in Armenia in the framework of the Project “V4 for Youth engagement in self-governance”. During the workshops, skills of the young representatives of local CSOs age between 18 and 30 will be developed. In particular, such topics as monitoring over cities' and villages' councils (Avagani) activity, budget forming and spending, advocating the interests and needs of the community, its differences, especially vulnerable, members and groups, engagement with local self-government bodies. They will also be provided with an opportunity to meet heads of some LSG bodies, which will be a valuable experience of engagement with local self-government bodies, which can, in future, become a good base for establishing of the structured dialogue between the Youth and Local Governments. The workshops will motivate the participants, mainly from rural areas of Armenia, to engage with local self-governance. Besides, the decentralisation reforms will be presented to them. The workshops are also dedicated to raising awareness among participants in the European Union, Council of Europe, Eastern Partnership, Visegrad 4 format. During the workshop, local issues will be discussed, which have been identified by the participants as more relevant for the Youth of their region. Workshop participants will be offered to develop one-page recommendations for LSG bodies (Avagani) on tackling anyone or several issues. All suggestions will be passed two-stage selection. The first stage - local selection will be made by two Armenian experts. The best 33 packages of recommendations (per three from every region and Yerevan), selected during the first stage will be translated and sent to the V4 partners, for consideration and evaluation. Based on the opinion/marks of the V4 experts, authors of the 11 best package of recommendations in the name of IVF will be awarded by "Free Citizen" CISC and Communities Association of Armenia with special Certificate and prizes in amount of 200 EUR each during the Youth Conference, organised in the framework of this Project. The partners of the Project are GLOBSEC (Slovakia), SALTO Youth Eastern Europe and Caucasus Resource (Poland), AGORA CE (Czech Republic), Budapest Institute for Policy Analysis (Hungary), and Union of Communities of Armenia (Armenia).
