Visegrad Symposium + Austria: View of Women 2018
10 artists from the V4 countries + Austria will create original artwork in the Egon Schiele Art Centrum over a 2 week period in the autumn of 2018. These artists are all female and will look back on their lives and on development in society from a woman's perspective on the occasion of the centenary (or near centenary as the case may be) of the granting of suffrage to women in the countries of our V4 + Austria region. The artwork they create, which will be exhibited in the Egon Schiele Art Centrum following the symposium, will help to raise the awareness of the domestic and international visitors to the distance that women have travelled towards achieving equality in the last hundred years and as to how much remains to be done in general and in the art world in particular to achieve full equality of opportunity. The successful achieving of the above is a very important objective for us. The Egon Schiele Art Centrum has also long actively supported V4 + Austria cooperation in the art world and this symposium directly supports this objective by bringing together artists from all 5 countries. This symposium will be actively promoted on social and other media and it will be clearly labelled as a Visegrad Fund supported project at all times thus helping us to achieve our objective of promoting V4 cooperation in general and of promoting the IVF in particular.
