May 29, 2019 – Jun 1, 2019
Kraków, Poland
Project
PAPERLUST Photobook Fest. Art and self-publishing as a tool for social change.
Workshop led by Katarzyna Zolich and Katarzyna Ewa Legendź from Paper Beats Rock Foundation and accompanying international guests will introduce participants into the main phases of preparing a self-published art publication, from the moment of thinking of projects through the edition stage to choosing formats and papers. The open call for participants from all Visegrad countries will be announced at the end of March 2018. The workshop will result in dummies of photobooks. This workshop will allow us to develop knowledge and consciousness about the medium of photography, photobooks, editing and narration and the use of visual language and self-expression through art. We will encourage emerging artists and amateurs (participants) to create visual stories, develop real skills and preserve the craft of producing a printed body of art, especially photobook. Through accompanying lectures, we plan to popularise the medium and its potential of the use of anti-propaganda, stimulate creative and innovative ways for art expression and expression of one's point of view and reach young people which will result in starting the dialogue between different population groups and allow sustainable preservation of local cultural heritage.
