Project
From Noise to Sound
The workshop will last for 5 days (the morning session is for lectures/presentations and discussion and the afternoon session is for the final work on installations). It will be held in Svilara Cultural Station in Novi Sad (centre of the city).
The morning sessions include presentations and discussion gathering young artists - representatives of each partner institution (one-two teachers of sculpting and one student of music with the exception of Academy of Arts which will have more students present at the workshop) to discuss and analyze the contemporary sculpture practice in Novi Sad through the examples of best practice in Pecs, Poznan and Banska Bystrica. Therefore, the representatives of all academies will present the case studies of their cities on the topic of contemporary urban design and discuss the issues related to the topic. The presentations will be in the form of lectures prepared by each of the participating academies (teachers of sculpting) followed by discussions. The workshop will also include a lecture of one representative of Cultural Centre of Vojvodina. In order to attract attention to the topic of the lack of contemporary sculptures in Novi Sad the morning sessions will be open for the public and the representatives of media.
The afternoon session of the workshop is of a more practical nature and involve the final work on making of the installations. Although some of the installations will be half made, the workshop will gather all parties involved in the process (sculpting team, performers-students of music, a physicist, sculptors, workers...) who will work together with the idea to present the sound installations as a simple and effective way to answer the need for a more contemporary look of the city.
