Workshops for Children—Slovakia

Jan 29, 2020 – Jan 30, 2020
Bratislava, Slovakia
Project
Kids for Eco-Action
1-hour workshop carried in the group of up to 25 children each. The workshop will be based upon the book and manual for teachers prepared within the Project and will complement the Project from a practical side. Each workshop will be a pilot lesson that will consist of three parts: a) reading of a tale followed by a discussion with children, b) playing a game, c) art / craft project, experiment, etc. In Slovakia one workshop will be devoted to Poland and its eco-solutions, the other to Czech Republic. During the workshops information about financing from the Visegrad Fund will be delivered to the participants. This information will also be contained in the book which will be used during the sessions. It will also be included in related public promotional communication. In order to select two kindergartens to participate in the workshops, a small contest will be conducted in each country. The kindergartens that would like to take part in our workshops will need to write a brief explanation of what kind of eco-activities teachers accomplish with their children and why they would like to participate in the event. Based on the contest Daphne will select two Slovak kindergartens, which are most eager to continue their eco-educational efforts and further develop their skills in this area. Workshop will be prepared and conducted by each project Partner separately – in Slovakia by Daphne. We treat this Project as a pilot, a starting point for possible future cooperation projects on a larger scale. As a result, some Project outputs—that is e-book and audiobook—will be publically available on the Internet, so children from all regions of Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia (and also from other countries) will have access to them. This will help us limit transportation- and accommodation-related costs under this Project, and yet achieve all the goals we have assumed for this Project. The workshops will serve as a tool to reach the key goal of our Project, that is to make children more environmentally conscious. Through the workshops we will also help the children realise that environmental problems have cross-border dimension and that there are neighbouring countries with whom we share environmental responsibility and who introduce interesting solutions to eco-problems. With this we will also promote The Visegrad Group and financing from The Fund. The workshops will help us promote environment-related activities taken by our organisations.
