Four Years On: Visegrad Fund Continues Supporting Ukraine
The International Visegrad Fund has stood by Ukraine since the very first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion and has over the four years provided support amounting to nearly €3.3 million.
In 2025, the Fund supported 16 projects addressing the most pressing challenges of life during wartime—from psychological support for young people and the building of trauma-resilient communities to cross-border training, the restoration of livelihoods for women in affected regions, and research into ecological challenges related to biodiversity, water and soil. Support in the form of grants and scholarships amounted to approximately €616,000.
Immediately after the outbreak in 2022, the Visegrad Fund responded promptly by launching a special call aimed at supporting Ukrainian refugees in the V4 countries, as well as internally displaced persons in Ukraine. In that year alone, more than €1 million was allocated to supported projects.
In 2023, the Fund continued its humanitarian assistance with almost €390,000, while more than €480,000 was dedicated to grants and scholarships for Ukrainian applicants—particularly in the fields of education and professional development.
In 2024, support was further strengthened: grant projects received more than €770,000 and grant schemes were expanded to include youth initiatives and scholarships, which continued into the following year.
Four years of full-scale war. Four years of solidarity. Support for Ukraine remains a commitment—today and in the future.
