V4 East Solidarity Programme in Belarus

In April this year, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic agreed on financial support from the reserves of the International Visegrad Fund for the countries of the EU’s Eastern Partnership countries in the fight against COVID-19. V4 East Solidarity Programme was created for its implementation. The religious mission of the Catholic Charitable Society “Caritas” was chosen as a partner in Belarus.

In early December, Maroš Mitrik, a representative of the Slovak Embassy in Belarus and Andrej Zilevic, director of the Caritas, who works in the Minsk-Mongilev archdiocese visited Cherven Central District Hospital. Together, they helped to hand over a humanitarian shipment such as ultraviolet emitters, medical coats, respirators, masks, gloves and disinfectants.
“It is important for us that protective equipment is provided primarily to doctors” – said Andrej Zilevic. Under COVID conditions, and difficult situation in the region, it is them who need effective protection the most.
The humanitarian aid was received with gratitude by deputy director of the hospital, Sergei Ivanyuk, and the head nurse Natalia Sycheva.
