Visegrad Kite Cup
The Visegrad Kite Cup Project promotes kiting across Central Europe - what began as a cross-border initiative has developed into a full Visegrad cooperation, connecting communities through this relatively new sport.
This edition, Slovak applicant M3N in cooperation with the Polish Foundation for the Development of Extreme and Low Balanced Sports, Hungarian SDR-SurfCamping Sports Association and Czech Kiteboarding Holešov, presented kiting across all four Visegrad countries through three events:
- Water kiting on Lake Balaton, Hungary
- Land kiting in Moravia, Czechia
- Snow kiting in Orava, Slovakia
Due to unpredictable weather conditions, they tried to connect more sports disciplines. In winter they added a cross-country skiing race and lots of snowy sport disciplines for children in the program. During summer events they connected kite disciplines with a beach volleyball tournament in Hungary and some Spartan race disciplines in Czechia. This way they gave all age groups of visitors the opportunity to participate in the events.
Each location offered unique conditions and challenges, allowing participants to experience the diversity of the region’s landscapes and weather patterns. The project’s inclusive approach has made kiting more accessible to newcomers, with beginner-friendly activities and equipment demonstrations at each event. This has helped grow the sport’s popularity and established new local kiting groups in participating regions.
