Possibilities to visit archaeological excavations are limited for the general public. We will open our excavations and do the people who will be interested and do the guided tours to explain how do we proceed and what did we found. Public discussion

The proposed output is planned as an evening event during the conference on September 25, focusing on translation and cultural exchange in Central Europe and beyond. The panel discussion with Terézia Mora, László Márton and Wilhelm Droste will take place at the State Scientific Library in Košice. It will explore the role of translation as a cultural bridge between languages and literary traditions. The event opens with two readings: Terézia Mora will present a passage from her poetics lecture. Following this, László Márton will read a selected text by Sándor Márai and discuss both Márai’s relationship to Franz Kafka and the process of translating the text into Hungarian. This will be followed by a joint discussion moderated by Wilhelm Droste. The conversation will explore the role of translation in both literary and academic contexts, focusing on issues such as international reception, cultural mediation, and the importance of multilingualism in European modernity. Scientific conference

The core output is a three-day international academic conference held in Košice, focusing on the literary and cultural legacy of Sándor Márai. The conference brings together scholars from Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Croatia and Germany, who will contribute their expertise in Central European literature, exile studies, and memory cultures. The program includes keynote lectures and panel discussions. The planned conference aims to explore new perspectives on Sándor Márai’s life and work. By combining literary analysis with historical contextualization, the event will cover a broad range of research on Márai. The organizers have identified three thematic focuses to guide the program: Work and Context, Márai as a Chronicler, and Márai and Translation.The aim is twofold: to foster intensive scholarly exchange and network-building around Márai research, and to generate new impulses for the academic and cultural reception of Márai in the Visegrad region. Special attention is given to the integration of national research traditions into a transnational framework, promoting collaborative perspectives. This output fits into the broader project goal by increasing Márai’s visibility as a key figure of shared Central European heritage and encouraging long-term cooperation among literary scholars and institutions. https://tinyurl.com/ydjf5fj4
