Summer School – “Little (Big) Women – Historical sources for family research and gender history”
The main topic of the planned event (summer school for students) will be the life strategies of women and their changing position in the pre-Modern society considering especially the situations when they were forced to play a role that was not primarily intended for women – with emphasis on sources and their correct interpretation. The aim of the project will be not only to acquaint students with the roots of existing gender stereotypes and with the beginnings of women's emancipation, but also to teach them to how to proceed when interpreting various types of written sources.
The summer school will start on Monday evening with a reception (on the applicant's premises). During the following days (Tuesday, Wednesday), the students will attend several seminars (6-7, duration: 90 min each). Seminars will be prepared and conducted by the active participants of the spring workshop. This part will be accessible to students from the Ukrainian universities in the form of online seminars. As part of the afternoon program (in-person only), students will attend memory institutions located in Opava (archives, museum).
