3KinoFest 2022

In 2022, the 9th edition of 3KinoFest will take place. This unique Central European film festival is the most complex competition film festival in Prague focusing mainly on the cinema of the Visegrad countries. 3KinoFest 2022 will consist of a competition and non-competition section, an accompanying and industry program. The competition section of the festival is a unique opportunity to place films in mutual creative competition and award the best directors from the V4 region in 2022. The dramaturgy of the competition part of the festival presents the best feature films from the Czech, Slovak, Polish and Hungarian republics in the last 2 years and puts them in competition with each other, which allows this cinema to be perceived as distinctive in regional, European and global contexts. An international jury composed of professionals and important personalities of cinematography from the Visegrad countries will award the winners in three categories: The Best Film Award - The prize for the best feature film of Visegrad cinema is awarded to the film, which is evaluated in all respects as the best film (direction, screenplay, editing, acting, music) by the festival jury. Golden Debut - The prize for the best feature film debut in Visegrad cinema is awarded to the film, which is the director's debut in the feature film category. 3KinoFest received the award with the original title Golden Debut from the organizers of the Filmové babí léto festival in Třinec (CZ). 3KinoFest thus continued the 27-year history of the FBL in Třinec and transferred the competition to the city of Prague. Special Award - A special prize of the jury for an exceptionally processed topic or otherwise exceptional film work. In recent years, the members of the jury were, for example, Agnieszka Holland, Adam Dvořák, Zuzana Kopečková, Barbara Hessová, Maciej Stuhr, Jerzy Armata, Magdalena Łazarkiewicz, Tomasz Kolankiewicz. The directors of the three winning films are awarded a valuable bronze statue with a semi-precious stone from the Polish sculptor Tomasz Koclęga and a financial prize. The non-competitive part of the festival will introduce audience to cycles focused on retrospectives, thematic film blocks, the best of partner film festivals (eg Solanin Film Festival - focuses on independent films, it is a long-term partner of 3KinoFest, is a partner festival of the German Cottbus film festival and Lubuskie lato filmowe; Gdynia Film Festival) and children's films. This year, the accompanying program will focus on defining visionaries and people who are fighting for a valuable life, regardless of the price they have to pay for it. The festival will present them through (biographical) films, accompanying exhibitions and discussions, and will also try to raise issues of freedom and life in an unpredictable world. This year, the film blocks will offer students and short films. This year's novelty will be screenings in cooperation with the Ukraine Film Fest, which will offer viewers films by Ukrainian authors or with Ukrainian themes in the context of the war that has entered the lives of every person, not only in Central Europe. Already during 2022, several screenings of Ukrainian-Russian films took place in connection with a charitable collection for Ukraine. 3Kino co-organized in May 2022 the event Against Russian Aggression with the participation of, among others, the leader of the democratic opposition in Belarus, Sviatlana Cichanouska. There was great interest in these projections, so the organizer decided to include them in the program during the non-competitive part of 3KF 2022. The films, which were inspired by Kafka and Schulz, will be presented in several thematic units. It will present contemporary works inspired by world-famous visionaries (Kafka and Schulz) and in several thematic units the festival will present films inspired by their works, which in the context of the war in Ukraine gained a new dimension/meaning (Sanatorium pod klepsydrą, 1973, PL; Pasáž, 1996 , CZ). Because this tragic war has shown us that democracy, freedom and civil rights are not a matter of course, and we need to actively oppose totalitarianism and dictatorship. Industry program Since 2021, 3Kino has also included an industry program for the professional public and professionals in its program. For this year, the organizer is preparing to continue and expand the program from last year on the theme of the screenplay, film poster and the possibilities of national and international cooperation of producers. Meeting on the topic: screenplay as the basis of the film with Zuzana Kopečková Meeting on the topic: the importance of graphic design in film promotion - graphic design students and their professors Meeting of Czech and foreign producers - discussion of beginning and renowned professionals in the field, possibilities of their cooperation and co-production Accompanying program The accompanying program will include films and discussions related to the life and work of the Czech-German writer Franz Kafka and the Polish writer Bruno Schulz (for example, the film Bruno Schulz by Adam Sikora and Franz Kafka by Piotr Dumała). One of the current representatives of modern literature, who is considered by some critics to be a partial successor of Franz Kafka and Bruno Schulz, was the Czech writer Karel Pecka. His best-known short story, The Passage, was filmed by Czech director Juraj Herz (1996). https://www.3kino.cz/
