Visit of 8 students and 2 chaperones from Poland in and around Budapest to collect eyewitness accounts of history and participants in the action of helping Poles,
Schedule
1. Day: Arrival / accommodation / dinner
2. Day: Visit to the Polish school in Budapest / tour of the school / getting to know the
with the participants of the project / workshop on the assistance of the Hungarians to the Poles during WWII and in the 1980s of the 20th century. / workshop is to raise awareness of the importance of assistance and the roles of individual Hungarians in actions to help Poles and prepare young Poles to talk to witnesses of history.
3. Day: Interviews with people helping Poles, recording and filming their testimonies together with students from Hungary, in order to save them from oblivion.
4Day: Visits to sites related to refugees from Poland and the committee to help Poles: Balatonboglar, Keszthely
5. Day: Visit to Csepel, meeting with the mayor, planting memorial trees in tribute to Hungarians helping Poles
6. Day: departure to Poland
Participants in the project will be selected in a two-stage procedure according to the following criteria:
1. from among the winners of the competition on the history of Hungary from 1918 to 1999,
organized in September 2022 by our history teachers (50% of the points) 2. from among communicatively excluded students living in rural areas far from cultural institutions (25% of the points ) and 3. students with disabilities or from broken families or children of refugees from Ukraine (25% of the points)
