ENERGY EFFICIENCY: THE WAY OUT OF FOSSIL FUEL DEPENDENCE IN CEE COUNTRIES?

Russia's aggression against Ukraine is rewriting Europe's energy mix. Dependence on fossil fuel imports from Russia must be stopped, and Europe is accelerating its shift away from fossil fuels toward new clean energy sources. Apart from replacing Russian energy imports and the construction of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency is among the most viable solutions. The direction was set by Fit for 55 legislative packages launched in 2021. For the Central European countries energy savings in building sector may be the way to decarbonise their emissions-intensive economies. In the context of Czech presidency is the debate more than relevant. bpb.sk
