Realization of the Roma Heroes Festival in Budapest

The main Applicant has realized the world’s only international Roma theater festival since 2017. They will organize the 5th Roma Heroes Festival this year, where the Czech and Slovakian partners will participate with one performance each. The performances will be accompanied by subtitles and/or interpretation of national languages. The Czech performance (What does it mean to be a Romani woman?) is about tradition, culture, pride, dignity, motherhood and pressure on early motherhood. The main question is: what does it mean to be a Romani woman in the Romani community and also among the majority. The Slovak performance (Helver’s night) reflects the depth and complexity of human destiny and the cold and warmth of human relationships. The story includes the following topics: the problem of perception of difference, the position of a minority, extreme emotions in a seemingly hopeless situation, a huge metropolis devouring human individuality, loneliness in the crowd, human dislike of others. The performances will be accompanied by audience discussions. Both performances will be with English/Hungarian subtitles, simultaneous interpretation. And video recorded in a professional way with 3 cameras and sound kit. https://independenttheater.hu/en/roma-heroes-v-international-roma-theater-festival/
