Premiere of the Performance “Kobro. Spaces”

The performance "Kobro. spaces" directly refers to avant-garde artists from V4 countries to whom the art was a tool of resistance and improvement of new forms of expression. It is a unique opportunity to bring together new choreography, contemporary dance, physical theatre and avant-garde conduct to develop create artistic team of V4 artists. "Kobro. spaces" is the title of a new production, carried out by an international group of artists who will continue their cooperation started in "Change / project" supported by IVF and awarded as one of the best projects in 2019 also by the IVF. The main point of reference of the performance “Kobro. Spaces” is joining avant-garde representatives: leading person is Polish sculpturer Katarzyna Kobro but presents also Czech, Slovak and Hungarian artists. The team invited to the creation of the performance reflected on the heritage of avant-garde artists and transfered their concept to the performative, choreographic and social ground. Work on the performance will be divided into a series of researches to analyze artist's work in relation to avant-garde and social movements that took place in Central Europe, in particular in the Visegrad countries after World War I, in the interwar years. Both the project and the subject itself was a continuation of the substantive and choreographic search of an international team of artists from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, who in 2019 jointly produced two productions referring to avant-garde phenomena of revolutions. Sztuka Nowa performance titled "Black SQR" was referring to the famous painting by avat-garde artist Malevich "Black Square on a White Background", the compositional center was closed in a square. In performanve "LAST: Nijinsky's Last Dance" the compositional center was multiplied and parallel. In "Kobro" the question will be how parallel unfold and multiply to open in the composition center. Important partner of the project will be Art Museum in Łódź (the collection of which was initiated and created by Katarzyna Kobro and Władysław Strzemiński) with the participation of curators from that institution. International team will have direct access to creation and archival documents related to the artists’ works. On the other hand, the artists involved in the performance of the performance, during their artistic rehearsals in Warsaw looked for points of contact and differences in other avant-garde concepts of artists from Visegrad countries. We want to run a lively dialogue between the ideas of avant-garde artists from four partner countries during the creative process. Outstanding choreographers Kat Rampackova (SK), Agnieszka Kryst (PL) and Martina Talaga (CZ) and Jana Ryslava (CZ), visual artists Kristof Szabo (HU) will create together the performance. The performance/immersive installation "KOBRO. Spaces" consists of many layers, including 4 choreographic paths, worked out in 4 segments by choreographers from Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia, the visual layer be prepared by Hungarian video artist. The director Dawid Żakowski (PL) will be responsible for carrying out the research and creative process, preparing the script together with playwrights and completing the final editing of all the components. To ensure the ease of exploitation of the performance 3 Polish performers will perform in it. http://sztukanowa.pl/embodied-ideas/
