Writer Camp in Vác, Hungary
One-week-long creative camp to work together on the proposed poems. The poets will bring their pre-prepared poems to the camp (some poems will be already posted ones, but it is not a condition), and we will work on the poems and their translations, close to Visegrád, Hungary. This camp is a possibility for our authors to meet each other, build their inernational network and experience in their field. If we work together as a group, the project will be more personal and probably more important for the participants, and their relationship will be stronger with each other. During the camp the activities will be the next:
0. day: Arrival.
1. day: Strengthening the community. Short presentation of the already reached results of the project and the programme of Visegrád Fund for the particpants. Later we start our first literature workshops.
2. day: Poem workshops, later intercultural/informal workshops to know more about each other’s contemporary literature scene.
3. day: Trip in the city of Visegrád and the castle to get some frash air, know more about Visegrád and have some freetime together.
4. day: Creative workshops to discuss and edit the poems, later english translation workshop.
5.day: Translating workshops for native languages. First we translate their poems to english, and later we translate each poem to all of the Visegrád languages.
6. day: Finishing the poems and the translations and presenting them. We will give possibility for the participants to
express their feelings and thoughts about the project, and they will have possibility for anonim written feedbacks too. At the afternoon we go to Budapest, to visit PesText festival, organized by MISZJE, and the participants will get a possibility to read their new english and hungarian translations for the audience, so the authors will get some experience in an inernational literature festival too.
7. day: Departure after the breakfast.
As you can see during the first days we give possibility for the participants to build their personal connection, so later
we can work together as a group. During the literature workshops the participants will learn about poems, translation and each other’s contemporary literature scene, and we will give enough time to work on their texts together. We will ask the particpants to bring their poems from home, so we can spend more time on the tranlsations, which will be a community work. As it is an international camp, our working language will be english, so the participants will have some experience in it too, in the future they can have more self confidence in international literature or in other kind of projects. The idea is that by the end of the week we will have every brought poem in english, so we can read them in the festival. We want to have every brought poem also in every other language. The raw translations will serve as a "first version" for the anthology translation, which will be completed later by the professional translators. To sum up, by the end of the week we want to have a strong community, and also the final versions of the poems on their original language, leaving only the translations to work on later.
