Initial Workshop (OMA); On-line “kick-off” meeting + on-line follow-ups

Prior to the workshop, cross-departmental teams will be established in participating institutions, artworks pre-selected for case studies and infrastructural requirements for their preservation defined. Our preliminary list includes artworks by Michael Bielicky, Silver, Ágnes Eperjesi, Róza El Hassan, Zoltán Szegedy-Maszák, Piotr Wyrzykowski (CUKT), and others. Representatives of the groups will gather for a one-day workshop at MUO, Olomouc, to discuss the issues involved in preserving the artworks and possible institutional challenges to emerge. The event will include presentations of sections of collections relevant for media art context as well as past experiences of the partners from dealing with this genre. External experts from across various fields and disciplines will be invited to participate. The gathering will also be an opportunity to discuss possible cures for adapting infrastructures to care for media-based artworks. The workshop will result in identifying the final set of artworks for case studies as well as particular practical roles and conceptual issues to be examined by each participating institution. The workshop will take place online in case of ongoing pandemic. Note of 11 February 2021: Due to the ongoing covid-restrictions this event will be modified (online setup) and its duration will be prolonged a bit; such layout allows that all objectives and targets can be reached, although it's not possible to organize on-site workshop. Our intent is to make online version of the event the most efficient by distributing the event tasks over the prolonged period (however still short and preceding all following events). Such action has no impact on the project results and doesn't require exceeding total budget of the event. http://newmediamuseums.cead.space
