Introduction to Comparative Planetology

Lecture: Lukáš Likavčan—a researcher and theorist, writing on philosophy of technology and political ecology (in conversation with Matej Metelec). He is a PhD candidate at Department of Environmental Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Masaryk University, Brno. Last year he published a book called "Introduction to Comparative Planetology" which presents an intertwined analysis of visual cultures of imagining the Earth and geopolitics of climate emergency. It compares different “figures” of the planet—the Planetary, the Globe, the Terrestrial, Earth-without-us and Spectral Earth—in order to assess their geopolitical implications. These implications are then mapped on respective prospects of these figures in developing an infrastructural space for planetary coordination of our design interventions against runaway global heating, and ultimately against mass species extinction. http://arttransparent.org/event/culture-for-climate/

Conference in Prague

Plant-based diet is getting more and more popular. 10% of young Czechs (18–34) already keep meat off their plate and 32% of Czechs overall plan to increase their consumption of plant-based products. The aim of the conference is to show how much potential lies in the growing popularity of healthy plant-based diets. In Rostlinně, we believe that there is a great need for exchanging knowledge and experience in the field of plant-based foods and innovative concepts such as “clean meat”. One-day conference will take place in an innovative space of Prostor39. Inspiring speakers, success stories, global trends, pitching and networking for not only professionals, but everyone who is interested in the market of food and plant-based products. We will organize one day long food innovation conference in Prague, which will be providing stage for the most prominent contemporary food innovation scientists, engineers, and business leaders of the World, while focusing on attracting broad audience of start-up communities, entrepreneurs, policy makers and media representatives. We will provide a networking space for these leaders with regional business representatives and local prospective start-ups and SMEs, with coverage by food and business media in order to extend the impact to the whole sector.
