Jewish Spiš—Culture that Survived through Music
A lesson-workshop by a researcher, composer and virtuoso of cimbalom—Michal Pal'ko, about the musical Jewish history of Spiš—region on Polish–Slovakian Border. The lesson followed by the concert of the Mojše Band. The audience of the lecture-concert will have a unique opportunity to visit a real sukkah—traditional Jewish booth built during the festival of Sukkot and take part in a question-answer session with a rabbi in the sukkah.
Visiting guest lecturer from Opava/Krnov will present the Jewish history and present of the region of Moravian-Silesia. Then a discussion with local activists allowing to exchange the experience of restoring heritage and rebuilding communities in Spiš and Silesia (event open for audience, up to 50 people).
