V4 Fisz Literary Workshop

The V4 literary workshop forms one of the key programs of the project, in terms of providing space for young literary translators and authors of the V4 region to meet face to face and take part in creative workshop dedicated to contemporary literature of V4. The workshop of young writers, authors and translators, organized by MISZJE and FISZ (Young Artist’s Association), will form an inherent part of the ongoing festival, dealing with the main topic (the theme of 'RESET'), as well as the texts of V4 authors translated to Hungarian and English. There will be a Public Reading of the literary translations created as the result of the workshop, which will be presented at the closing event of the festival, with all the participants and professionals involved, which will also serve as a promotion of the ongoing festival. The translation workshop will be lead by Viktor Horváth, who had collaborated with MISZJE also last year, in the 2019 edition of the festival (leading the previous translation workshop at Visegrád, as well as the V4 workshop at BRAK festival, in Bratislava). The literary camp will be held in Budapest. www.pestextfestival.hu

PesText Festival 2020: V4 Improvised Poetry

V4 Improvised Poetry—Budapest impressions by foreign authors, is an event due to be held at Egyetem square, near PIM, Budapest, as a follow-up of the Feel the City event, with chosen V4 authors writing a piece on the spot, which will be translated right away by translators taking part in the festival, in front of the audience. It is one of the most interactive and creative parts of the festival program, where the local audience can meet the V4 authors (V4 literary residents, invited festival guest artists, poets, slammers, translators etc.) in person, and witness how they see the capital, in form of improvised slam poetry to be written and translated on stage, inspired by their impressions reflecting on the previous city tour lead by the drama pedagogist, Viola Kallós. www.pestextfestival.hu

2nd Edition of V4 Borders & Bridges Festival: PesText Festival 2020

As part of the festival program, we will organize a dramatic reading of contemporary V4 literary texts, which will be accompanied by live music (with involvement of local musicians), due to be organized on chosen days during the 4 festival days, at appointed time, in different spots (indoor and outdoor festival venues). The goal of playreading of contemporary V4 authors to public is raise awareness of the power of dramatic texts (that are generally based on dialogue), as a means of communication and channel for understanding each other, regardless of different worldviews, religion, social, political or cultural background. The public readings will also add to our understanding of the strong visual dimension of drama and its capability to “see” beyond the limits of communication. The event will promote the dramatic works of the most relevant authors from the Visegrad region, and thus, help raise the interest towards reading each other more. The readings are centered around the main theme of the festival and its key word: "RESET". www.pestextfestival.hu
