Documentary Workshop in the Czech Republic

This event presents helding a one day seminar at our partnering filmschool in the Czech Republic – FAMU. We are in long term contact with FAMU for several years and we have repeatedly received requests from the students to held a seminar to present actual information from the documentary filmmaking and festivals, using the experience of some of the most renowned experts in the industry. Therefore we would like to held a seminar for documentary filmschool students, focused on the way the documentary film projects are being developed and what is the methodology of their selection for training courses like dok.incubator and also film festivals. This seminar will be held in February or March for cca 6-7 students out of which also observers for the workshop will be selected. The seminar will be prepared in cooperation with a FAMU teacher. Second part of this event will be organisation of a workshop in the Czech Redpublic. It will take place at the end of June and will include work with 4 Czech projects and 8 international projects. The workshop consists of regional part (4 days) and international part (6 days), both are interconnected through common activities. At least 36 participants will be involved. This workshop is focused on project development in the late stage of rough cut. Some of the international tutors will also be part of the selection period. The tutors are experts in editing, film production and marketing, also sales agents and commisioning editors, broadcasters and film festivals‘ selectors will be invited to consult the projects. The workshop focuses on distribution and marketing strategy preparation as well as on intensive editing work on the rough cuts of participating projects. Each of the projects involved will be assigned an observer from a different country and FAMU students (3-4 people) will participate to learn more by practice in the editing room and having consultations with the guest experts. Part of the second workshop is an open programme for regional filmmakers (CZ, SK, PL, HU) who can either consult their projects with the tutors or attend open lectures, master classes and seminars of our expert guests. Final Joint Event

The final event is supposed to be a joint work of all partners in one spot which we chose to be a small town of Hranice (CZ).The event will take place both t the town square (to reach wider audience) and in the garden of Karnola community space. We plan to execute these activities: Food sharing event introducing foreign foods, Street art debate facilitated by Polish theatre group, Art performance by Slovak artists.The final closing event will be a concert. All activities will focus on introducing migrant issues in an interactive way.Also, we plan to do evaluation with visitors during the whole day in order to get visitors' reactions to the topic.
