V4 FILM COMPETITION

An international film competition is an integral part of the Festival. For more than two decades, we have strived to bring the best mountain and adventure films to the Slovak and V4 audience. We actively seek out the best films in cooperation with our partners – we have a good overview of what is being produced in Slovakia, just like our partners know the situation in their respective countries, so we also reach out directly to filmmakers, whose films we would like to include in our festival. Films are submitted directly to the Hory a mesto FilmFreeway platform, then previewed and rated by our selection committee, to finally being selected for the main Festival program. We try to include more and more regional production; at the same time we follow strict criteria to select competitive and high-quality films. The film “finalists” are screened at the Festival and judged by the International Jury composed by experts from the V4 and other countries. The films made in the V4 countries compete for the “Best V4 Film” financial award (500 Eur). Other non-V4 film awards include the Grand Prize, Jury Award and others. The winners, including the Best V4 Film are awarded at the final Awards Ceremony at the end of the Festival. www.horyamesto.sk
