Andor F. Dávid visits Western Balkans Fund

Visegrad Fund’s Executive Director Andor F. Dávid, met with Dr. Gjergj Murra, Executive Director of the Western Balkans Fund, during his one day visit to Tirana yesterday.

Western Balkans Fund (WBF), an international organization inspired by the Visegrad Fund, was established in 2017 after several years of negotiations with the Western Balkans capitals. The Visegrad Fund has been providing WBF with assistance based on long-term efforts of the V4 governments to assist their Western Balkan counterparts with the EU integration process.

The idea for a Western Balkans Fund draws from findings delivered by a Visegrad Fund funded project by a consortium of V4 NGOs in 2011 which produced a feasibility study. The main aim of the “exercise” has been the development of a similar locally-owned structure in the Western Balkan region which would develop and fund multilateral cross-border civil society initiatives in the region and that would be primarily funded by the respective governments.
