Women of Visegrad

International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women, who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.
Here at the Fund, we celebrate the progress made by women through the lenses of our projects.
The team at Katarzyna Kozyra Foundation develops The Secondary Archive – the newest history of art written by women. The platform secondaryarchive.org will give free access to more than 250 female artists’ profiles, containing newly published artist and curatorial texts developed especially for the purpose of the archive. Representing three generations of artists from V4 countries, the platform aims to help promote, discover, and rediscover women artists and the most valuable phenomena of contemporary art of our region from the female perspective.
Researchers at the Univerzita Karlova focus on the visual arts associated with women from Central European royal families (queens, princesses and widows) from the beginning of the 14th century to the thirties of the 15th century. This research will address their political, founding, and ordering roles, as well as issues related to the functions of their depiction across all art media.
Here is to all women in our region!
